Software testing tools

The latest version of the Magic Quadrant for Integrated Software Quality Suites by Gartner was updated in September. It covers test management tools, automated stress and load testing tools, and automated functional and regression testing tools. This is a key component of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) market.

Six vendors made it into the Leaders quadrant:

  • IBM
  • Microsoft
  • HP
  • Oracle
  • Soasta
  • Borland

These are the vendors with the most complete vision and greatest ability to execute that vision.

The vendors placed in the Visionary quadrant (weaker ability to execute than the leaders quadrant) were

  • Tricentis
  • Smartbear
  • Original Software
  • Testplant
  • Telerik

Other vendors included in the grid (the Challengers and Niche Players quadrants) were

  • CA Technologies
  • Parasoft
  • Automation Anywhere

We'll be taking a look at the testing tools offered by these vendors in this blog in future posts. We'll also be including popular tools used in testing from other vendors, such Atlassian's Jira or Ranorex Studio, as well as open source offerings such as Selenium, SoapUI and JMeter. If you would like to suggest a tool used in QA and software testing that we should include, please email details to enquiries@acutest.co.uk
