Mobile app testing platform acquisition.png

Microsoft announced yesterday that it has acquired HockeyApp, a service for testing mobile apps. HockeyApp works on iOS, Android, Mac OS and (unsuprisingly) Windows Phone. It also provides a beta distribution platform and crash reporting

Microsoft was slower off the mark than its rivals in acquiring a mobile testing service. In February, Apple acquired Burstly, owner of the mobile app testing platform TestFlight. And in June, Google acquired Appurify, a platform for developers to test mobile apps and websites across different OEMs with different screen sizes and operating systems.
