Comment

This ensures that bugs, which are only shown where large volumes of data are used, are identified prior to the data being live (thus sensible archive processes can be put into place to ensure these restrictions are never met).

With load testing tools and/or database systems, volume testing is relatively easy and well worth the effort - even if the tests show that the system works with a given number of records, rather than being exercised to the limit.
