Testing whether the system meets its specified storage objectives. (Note that in this context ‘storage’ refers to the storage of data or other information in terms of consistency, throughput, recovery and volumes.)

Limitations associated with data storage are found before they are seen in production. Also enables archive routines to be developed and implemented prior to faults being seen.


On many programmes and large projects, testing will take up a significant portion of the budget. But it will receive less management attention than an activity of this size warrants.
