The testing of the characteristics of a system without consideration for the performance of the system or non-functional requirements.

Comment

The functional requirements are rarely the only aspects of a product that are essential for success. For example a product that functions perfectly but is insecure may not be usable within a bank. This is also known as functionality testing as well as functional testing.
